When developing products for markets which require high-safety, like medical technology, where any functional lapse could put a patient’s life at risk, the highest possible measures of safety are often more important than new product features. Therefore, strict standards as well as certification rules are at the center of every decision. Many safety elements are based on the Medical Devices Directive (MDR), whose electrical minimum limit values are most effectively achieved by utilizing the REOMED toroidal fixed transformer. This is shown by the IEC 60601-1 and IEC 60601-1-2 approvals from TÜV Süd. We demonstrate and maintain our quality through regular inspections of the production facilities.
An example of compliance with the limit values is the leakage current. This current flows through the protective conductor and according to the law may not be higher than 500µA.
